Bald Pate Mountain Preserve
Bald Pate Mountain Preserve, located in South Bridgton, consists of 486 acres of forest, meadows, and granite-topped scenic vistas. The preserve was established in 1997 after a local grassroots effort generated interest and support to protect the mountain from a proposed television tower.
There are a network of trails that offer opportunities for hiking, snowshoeing and cross country skiing (trails groomed by Five Fields Farm). All hiking trails are marked and signed and are maintained by a dedicated group of local stewards. There are brochures, with a trail map at the kiosk in the parking lot. Fires, camping and motorized vehicles are not permitted. Several hikes take place throughout the year at Bald Pate- please visit our events calendar to learn more.
Directions to Bald Pate Mountain: From Portland, follow Rt. 302 west. Before coming into Bridgton, look for Rt. 117 on left. Bear left from 117 onto 107. After approx. 5 miles you will pass Five Fields Farm Orchard. On the crest of the hill after the orchard, you'll see sign for Bald Pate Mountain on the left side of the road.
