Mayberry Hill Preserve
Mayberry Hill Preserve, located in Casco, is comprised of 160 acres of mixed woodlands, meadow and streams. The land was donated to Loon Echo in 1990 and soon after the preserve was established. A Stewardship Committee and fund was formed to help manage the preserve.
There is an existing trail which is used by many visitors and local residents for leisurely hiking and educational opportunities.
Soon an “Ecological Forestry Trail” will be developed to educate the public about forestry management and ecology of the preserve. There will be multiple stations with descriptive signs explaining the different ecological communities. Loon Echo is partnering with the Hancock Land Company on this project.
Directions to the Maybery Hill Preserve: From Portland, follow Rt. 302 to Rt. 121 which brings you into Casco. In the village center, turn right on Mayberry Hill Road, drive to the top of the hill. Turn left at the stop sign. The Preserve is a short distance on the right. Park along the road, near the white farmhouse and field.
