Sylvan Woods Preserve

Sylvan Woods Preserve, located in Harrison, is a 38 acre mixed forest community dominated by Eastern white pine. Loon Echo established the preserve in 2003 after the two neighboring (but not contiguous) parcels were donated to the Trust. The donor generously created a stewardship fund to help manage the land.

In accordance with the management plan, Loon Echo recently harvested the parcel.
Hancock Land Company oversaw the harvest, following the Forest Stewardship Council’s (FSA) Standards which guide all of Hancock’s forest management practices. The income from the harvest will be added to the existing fund for managing the preserve.Evergreens in the winter

There are no established trails or signs on the preserve, but the land is open to the public for recreational and educational purposes.

Directions to Sylvan Woods Preserve:
Traveling from Portland, take Rt. 35 out of Naples heading towards Harrison. Drive roughly 5 miles (look for Worsters marina sign on the left side of the road) and the parcels are located on the right side of the road, across from the Cape Monday Road, and extend toward the Ede’s Falls Road further to the east. Both parcels have a log landing area which to enter the property.
