April is National Invasive Species Awareness Month. Invasive species are among the biggest threats to the health of our forests and trees today. We've compiled a list of resources about some of the invasive species that are already here in the Lake Region. You can view these resources at lelt.org/forest-pests.

How we're addressing invasive species on LELT lands:

• Partnering with Maine DACF to monitor for Emerald Ash Borer, release a proven biological control, and save ash seeds to help keep ash on the landscape on the future.
• Removal of invasive Japanese knotweed, honeysuckle, and barberry at Hacker’s Hill Preserve.
• Managing Asiatic bittersweet vines in Pondicherry Park.
• Removal of Purple loosestrife at Rolfe Hill.
• Monitoring for Hemlock Wooly Adelgid.
