Kids Yoga

Hacker’s Hill Preserve, Casco  
Join Mindful Seed Yoga for a free Kids Yoga class! Geared towards children ages 3-12, certified “Kidding Around Yoga” instructor Lauren will lead kids through yoga, movement, games and meditation. Manage stress, build focus and awareness all while enjoying high energy songs and dancing! Please bring: a mat, snacks, and water. Hawk Migration Watch

September | Hacker’s Hill Preserve, Casco
Dick Anderson, former Director of the Maine Audubon, brings his enthusiasm for the southern hawk migration to Hacker’s Hill. The ideal conditions for migrating hawks are a northwest breeze with clear skies. Bring your comfy chair, binoculars, water and snacks. In the past, many species of hawks have been observed along with bald eagles and osprey. Please park in the “Event Parking” area to the right of the summit. Easy

Evening of Geology

Hacker’s Hill Preserve, Casco
Spend an early evening with Maine State Geologist Robert Marvinney to look back in time at the northern Sebago Lake region from a geological standpoint.  The land between the west shore of Sebago Lake and the White Mountains offer an interesting story of ancient ocean shorelines, glaciers and multiple ice ages. Hacker’s Hill provides a terrific vantage point and signs of geological events of the past.  Meet at 5:00 PM at Hacker’s Hill parking area.


Education at Raymond Community Forest

  • Saturday, September 14th, 9 – 10:30 am – ​What’s In There? A lesson about the creatures that live in our water and what they say about water quality.
  • Saturday, October 5th, 9 – 10:30 am – ​Which Tree is Which?
    Learn the types of trees and what animals call they home.

Trekking Through Time

From June through October, join Lakes Environmental AssociationLoon Echo Land TrustGreater Lovell Land Trust, Upper Saco Valley Land Trust, and Western Foothills Land Trust for a series of historical explorations. Each walk will be hosted by one of the conservation groups in collaboration with local historical societies. Join us for one or all of these as we learn more about the history of our region. Backcountry Ski Series

New for 2019-2020. Get outside this winter and try backcountry skiing- XC and downhill- at local conservation properties. In partnership with Western Foothills Land Trust.

Intro to Trail Running

Try Trail Running with Loon Echo and Run the Hills Run Club! All ages, all abilities, all speeds. Come as yourself, get comfortable trail running, and meet new people!

Loon Echo Trek

September |  Shawnee Peak Ski Area, Bridgton  
Hike or Run from Denmark to Bridgton over Pleasant Mountain, Southern Maine’s tallest mountain!  A 10k (6 mile) course starts with a shuttle bus ride from Shawnee Peak Ski Area to the trailhead for the Southwest Ridge Trail in Denmark. The route crosses over the entire ridge of Pleasant Mountain, passing three rest stops and finishes at the base of Shawnee Peak Ski Area. At the end of your trek you will be greeted with the food, BEER, a t-shirt, and a chance for some great prizes— all included as part of your entry fee! All proceeds from the Trek support our conservation work in the Lake Region. Acoustic Sunsets

In 2019, our Acoustic Sunset tour moved to Narramissic, to celebrate the newly conserve Peabody-Fitch Woods. We plan on bringing a series back to Hacker’s Hill and Narramissic in 2020.
